Vintage original 1934 movie poster one sheet size (27”x41”) for “Imitation of Life”, a melodrama dealing with racial & class issues starring Claudette Colbert, Louise Beavers, Warren William, Jane Witherspoon & Alan Hale. (A 1959 remake was made directed by Douglas Sirk & starring Lana Turner & Juanita Moore.)
Overall the restored & linenbacked poster (27”x41”) from 1934 is in very good condition. Prior to restoration, the poster had general wear & tear such at the lower crossfold, minor chips in border. Restoration was done on its fold lines & airbrushing was performed on the borders. The artwork & images in this 90 year old poster are in wonderful condition. It should be noted that original release movie paper from this film is extremely rare. Please see photos for details.
In 2005, “Imitation of Life” was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
